Thanks to CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds provided to support online and remote education, the statewide library consortium VIVA has added several new streaming media collections. Together, these sources bring many tens of thousands of new online videos, significantly expanding our access to streaming media resources here at Virginia Tech.
Academic Video Online (AVON) includes over 70,000 titles spanning a wide range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. Included are news programs, training, lectures, interviews, documentaries, ethnographies, performances, and feature and short films.
The Docuseek2 Complete Collection includes over 1,700 of the most recent and popular titles made available for streaming on Docuseek2 from their distributors, which include Bullfrog Films, Icarus Films, Film Movement, MediaStorm, First Run Features, and more. These documentary films are in a variety of subjects, including education, healthcare, science and technology, and critical thinking.
Finally, VIVA has added three SAGE Video Collections for all public institutions. The Counseling & Psychotherapy Collection addresses a wide range of issues through tutorials, interviews, and demonstrations. The Criminology Collection covers all branches of the criminal justice system. The Nursing Collection includes demonstration, tutorial, and in-practice videos as well as interviews with leaders and practitioners in the field.
